You can take the girl...

This weekend, Ana and I attended a bridal shower for one of the “soon to be married” young ladies at our church.  We have quite a few new marriages taking place this spring.  I’m glad I’m not the priest who has to marry all of them…what a lot of work!

Before we left, I handed Ana one of my strings of “pearls” (they’re not real) and informed her that as the daughter of a woman raised by my a mom whom was raised in the south, she had to wear pearls to the bridal shower.  It just didn’t feel right to go to a shower “dressed down.”  I tried it once and I didn’t like it, even though many of the other women in attendance were “dressed down.”  Everyone wore pearls to the showers I attended 20 years ago.  It was just a matter of form.
