Superwoman (not!)
Email I have had a particularly tough week at work. To explain part of the “why” would violate the privacy of my students, so just trust me that it has been difficult. Last night, I actually had to apologize to my son for being grumpy. I’ve been a bit grumpy all week, unfortunately.
It’s hard sometimes to realize that I am not Superwoman. Yes, I have my daytimer with organized “to-do” lists (still a pen to paper kind of girl where that’s concerned), but that does not give me the superhuman ability to conquer dust bunnies, strep throat, financial craziness and varying DSM-5 diagnoses in a single bound. I wish it did.
Wouldn’t it be nice if life really were like the Brady Bunch and all of life’s difficulties could be wrapped up with neat bow and moral platitude for decoration? More and more I realize that there are more loose ends than tied out there for most people, and even when you manage to wrap up one mess, another one is usually hiding under one of those dust bunnies.
I am thankful for the blessings I do have. My family, friends, a roof over my head and food to eat on a regular basis. We really are quite rich here. Just some days, I need to remind myself…and maybe take one of those, “mental health days,” from my away from home work. I hear they can be quite helpful.
Just keeping it real folks.
Blessings on your day!!
