We’ve had a stray mother cat and her four kittens hanging around lately. We started feeding them and then gave them a nice box where they’ve been staying for several nights. I decided to upgrade them to a a modified kitty litter dome, complete with fleece mat, towels and catnip, but no kitty litter. That would be messy. This should keep out the wind and rain, at least.

Fuente Opus X… I haven’t had one of these in over a decade. Last one atthe tobacconist!
If memory serves, it will be slightly grassy the first half inch or so,then smooth out into mild cocoa and almond flavors. Looking forward to it!

This little guy made a home on our bathroom faucet. Given the traffic, or lack thereof, he wasn’t there long.

Miscellany My Feet Hurt, and other tales of aging
They really do hurt, and it’s kind of annoying. Right after David was born, I went through a period when my hurt when I got up in the morning. My dear brother in law gave me a gift certificate for the Birkenstock store and I bought a pair and they stopped hurting. But, all good things must come to an end….the shoes wore out and I stopped wearing them. For a few years, I was fine. But now, the feet hurt again and not just in the morning, although that’s when it’s worst. It sort of lingers all day long in my, mostly in my heels, and it is annoying…like the sound of endless nails scratching on an unending chalkboard, except it’s my feet….hurting.
Miscellany Fedora
New hat! The wife and I picked up some “head wear” on a date in Annapolis the other night. This particular hat is called a fedora, and is a “classic” version, unlike the thinner brim on the modern version. I needed something for summer. The black leather hat was just too hot, and frankly didn’t look so great with a suit.
Hats in the Belfy, Annapolis Harbor on Main St. (at the harbor end). Ask for Ashley. She knows her stuff.

Miscellany Flip, flop, flam, flip....
to quote our previous president, whether you loved him or hated him, you have to admit some of the bush-isms were rather alliterative and kind of fun.
I suppose it’s rather obvious that I took a blogging hiatus. I can’t even remember the impetus. Maybe I was sick back in February? Once I hadn’t updated for a week or two, we were into Lent and I thought, “maybe it’s best if I just shut up for a while.” There was a time when spewing my garbage into the void seemed like a good idea. Now, I’m not so sure it’s always for the best. I’ve always struggled with the dichotomies between portrait I paint for the world to see and the one that exists inside myself. What you see is not always what you get with me. I’m not qualified to decide if that’s a personality trait or a negative anomaly, but there it is. At any rate, for those few weeks of Lent, I decided to be quiet in order to study my inner portrait.
