It's a quiet morning...
Oct 1, 2008 …here in neeopolis. I was supposed to go to school in one of the surrounding counties and assess a student’s speech and language skills. The morning bike ride was shortened, my “good clothes” put on and the kids ushered into school on time. Before heading out to the school, I called to make sure the student was in attendance today. The student was not there, so a no go on the assessment today. I came home, took off the “good clothes,” put on my huswifery outfit on, cleaned the bathroom, scrubbed the stairs and folded a load of laundry. And so it goes…
The birds are still singing and the leaves haven’t changed color yet. You’d almost think it was spring, were it not for that chill in the air that speaks of frost and decay. The time for hunkering down approaches and these beautiful days seem like the last satisfying breath before winter comes. The kids went apple picking yesterday…they were out of school for Rosh Hoshanah (and a “sweet new year” to you too). Ana came home with loads of apples which will, as soon as time permits, become apple pie/crisp. Harvest season tastes good!
To make good on my promise of writing a bit more, I pulled out the first “chapter” of The Book House and cleaned it up a little. We’ll see how it goes from there. I think some of the later chapters feel a bit forced so I’m hoping a few years worth of time passing since I last looked at them can help me clean them up. It still feels like a movie playing in my mind which seems hard to translate to prose. But, I don’t know how to write screenplays either…so I’ll just do the best I can with my novice’s writing skills.
At the end of my bike ride, another story idea came to me…it’s a bit misty so I’ll let it lie for a while. Hmmm….
Have a good day all…

I'm sorry your bike ride was shortened for naught, but I like the idea of having an unexpected day off. Can't wait to read what is perculating.
And, thank you for the kind wishes, I'm feeling much better.
I'm glad you're feeling better...
You can read the updates at the "Laura Writes" section of the blog. I made a few changes to the first section of Book House, "Beginnings..."
