Five Random Facts about MeMe!
Dec 18, 2005 Dave from across the pond has tagged me to participate in this MeMe…being random is a skill at which I excel…so here goes…
1. When I married I did not want to completely give up my maiden name. My social security card actually has two middle names, the one my parents gave me at birth in addition to my maiden name. This has caused some confusion on "official" documents over the years and may have been a really dumb move. My husband could not understand why I wanted to "keep" my maiden name. I guess because when you have one name for 26 years, it’s really hard to imagine being called by another. Not long after I traded my first last in for a new one, my brother married a girl named "Laura." Thus, there is actually someone else in the world who bears my original name…which is cool in a really weird sort of way…
2. Speaking of my little brother, I am four years older than he. I actually have memories of him coming home from the hospital. I don’t remember us fighting as kids. This is likely due to the fact that by the time he was old enough to pick a fight with me, I was in school all day. Consequently, when my Ana and David fight, I haven’t the slightest clue what to do. Really…I just look at them and think, "why are you fighting? I don’t understand this." I usually end up taking away the disputed toy and putting them on opposite sides of the room until they cool off…and then I force them to apologize to each other…boy can that be interesting.
3. When I was young my hair was much lighter in color than it is now…you might have even called it blonde. It was also curly…very, very curly! My hair gradually darkened and now many describe it as "black," although mother nature seems to lightening it again. After I gave birth to Ana and David my hair lost almost all of its curl, while luckily retaining it’s body. Now, I have curls showing up at back of my head and around my ears which makes for some really interesting hair days. I’m hoping it will someday soon "straighten up," by becoming all curly again. I didn’t know what to do with straight hair and I’m completely baffled by what I’m supposed to do with hair that is having an identity crisis.
4. And speaking of hair…I have it on my feet and I don’t like to wear shoes. Maybe I’m part Hobbit. I didn’t read any Tolkien until last year and now I am completely taken in by his ability to write and create an entire world..absolutely amazing….
5. My earliest memory is of taking a picture at my Grandmother and Granddaddy house in Birmingham Alabama…actually I have very faint recollections of being on an airplane while traveling back to the states from Turkey where my Dad was stationed in the Air Force. Those airplane memories mostly contain bright lights and I remember staring out at the wing of the plane and feeling cold. The picture taking memory was at Christmas time. I was standing in front of the tree and I picked up an ornament that had fallen to the floor and said, "ball." I think my parents may have this picture somewhere…
I always feel like I’m at the tail end of these things, so I’ll just say…if you haven’t participated in this Meme and want to…please feel tagged by me. It’s a fun one!

I completely got rid of my middle name on my social security card (wasn't too fond of "Ruth" to begin with). So now you have my first name, maiden name, and new last name.
1) I hyphenate. My married last name is a girl's first name. Enough said.
2) I HAVE hobbit feet too! Tee hee. I can totally relate (I also like more than one breakfast, truth be told)
great to get to know you better!
...glad to know I'm not alone in liking "second breakfast!"
