Murphy's Fudge
Dec 22, 2005 The flurry of Christmas preparation always includes making of a pan of fudge. Yesterday, I pulled out the old family recipe (the one on the back of the jar of marshmallow fluff) and began adding ingredients to the pot. I opened the can of milk and discovered that I had bought the wrong kind! The store had placed all the family fudge recipe ingredients in a little clump together but with the wrong (sweetened condensed) milk!
This week has kind of been like that. Every little thing that could go wrong has…parish secretarial duties gone amuck, swedish nuts getting too brown in the oven and me feeling like an incompetent dolt staring at the wrong can of milk for my fudge!
Luckily, the store is close by and I had enough change in my wallet to get the right (evaporated) milk. Some things are a relatively easy fix…
I’ve been wanting to write a nice entry about the Messiah…oh well…there’s always next year…
I’m going to go finish my bourbon balls now…hopefully without any "issues."

I hope things start running a little more smoothly for you, Laura. I can understand the inept feeling. Sort of like packing my suitcase whilst EK unpacks it and strews clothes all over the house.
The baby weight comes off a lot easier in the spring and summer...at least it did for me. Although I've still got about 10 or so pounds of it hanging around. :)
Packing a suitcase with a toddler is an interesting experience! Has he discovered the toilet paper roll yet?
See now Laura you are one step ahead of me I don't know that I've ever used evaporated or condensed milk so I wouldn't have even noticed the difference.
You're it in email tag BTW. But I am off after 4:30 today til the 3rd. No pressure hun.
Kind of Harry Potterish, isn't that?
Sorry to hear the fudge went awry. You know marshmallow fluff is not a West/Left coast thing? I can't say I've ever had it.
...the bourbon amoebas are another story. However, they might do well with the Murphy's Fudge Line!
Somehow I stopped losing about 2 mos after EK was born - despite summer, spring, and fall! I did a lot of walking - I think. But I also did a lot of dessert eating (I think I was using the sugar to pep me up when oh so tired). Hence my sugar strike! You'll have to tell me what you think of the peppermint bark when you taste it. Aaron loves it but thinks I should put more peppermint oil/extract in it.
Yes, EK has discovered toilet paper. We usually keep the bathroom door shut, but this am while I was in there, he was putting it in the shower. So then I had to dig out wet toilet paper and throw it away.
Michelle - You are right! Getting anything done with a toddler is very interesting. My husband comes home everyday and wonders what the heck I do all day.
I'm sure the weight will come Jennifer...just in time for the next pregnancy :).
I am sure that the TP roll in the toilet is just around the corner though we do try to keep the lid down for drowning hazard reasons.
