Remove promptly...
Sep 14, 2007 …words which strike fear into my heart!
Today’s washload included a sweater I’d bought for David at Children’s Place ($5…SCORE, brand new baby) months ago and hadn’t washed yet. Ever the dutiful laundress, I read the instructions: “Machine Wash cold, like colors, tumble dry low, remove promptly.”
Don’t they know someone’s mother is going to be washing that sweater?
I do a load of wash every day, sometimes two if towels need washing. But rarely does anything get removed promptly unless I actually remember to set an alarm to remind me to take the clothes out of the dryer. And if I remember to set the alarm, there’s always the chance that something (arguing and/or bleeding children, phone calls, email from the boss, etc) will keep me from promptly going downstairs to retrieve the dry clothes. And the way my brain works, I will promptly forget to take them out in the interim.
Remove promptly. That’s rich. I laid the sweater out flat to dry…that’s the old fashioned way…no need to be prompt.
