Something I don't "Get"

This is in reference to Harry Potter, but still no spoilers.  I don’t “get” the people who read the books, and then complain about the writing…saying it’s “painful” to read.  Then why keep reading?  Unless you’re writing a book review, it makes no sense to keep reading something that causes such pain. When no examples of “bad writing” are presented it stikres me as being…excuse me, very Gilderoy Lockhart-ish.

Now, if you, like a good friend says something along the lines of, “I just couldn’t get into it.”  Well, fine.  I have no problem with that.  I can’t get into Star Trek at all.  It’s totally lost on me.  But, I let the trekkies have their fun.  We all need our ways to escape and the world is much more interesting when we don’t all like the same stuff.  We now have something to talk about, right?  And I could much better  engage someone who gave me examples of “bad writing” rather than just saying, “it’s bad writing.”   What?  Why?  Explain.

My two cents for the day.  I have to clean my house now!
