Writings

  • Patchwork Promise

    Started June 28, 2007
This is another family who entered my imagination a couple years ago.  I wrote all the backstory and plotted out the action…and then abandoned them.  I felt pressed for time and selfish about pouring myself into an “imaginary” family.  Lately, though, they started tap dancing through my consciousness again.  I thought maybe if I spent 15-20 minutes a day (which is always catch as catch can) writing that I could eventually tell their story.  As a decent sized portion gets written, I’ll post it.  I hope you enjoy.

  • The Book House

This is a story/novella or some such that is currently in progress.  This little family showed up in my head one morning and I just had to tell their tale.

  • No Dinosaurs in Church

    January 25, 2005
Another story for children.  This one was born out of my experience of dealing with kids in an Orthodox Church service.  I had a lot of fun writing this one and would love to see these characters live on in other stories for children.  A manuscript of this story is currently in the hands of an acquistions editor for an Orthodox Publishing House.  I’m biting my nails and waiting for the polite rejection.  Then I may send it on to other places.  I had an actual email conversation with this editor so I don’t feel I can simultaneously submit the manuscript.

  • A Tomato Tradition

    October 25, 2004
A children’s story about a little girl who learns about family tradition while growing tomatoes.  This little gem has been rejected by three publising houses.  Woo-Hoo!  It is still a story that is close to my heart…
